Going Green With Motor Coaches

February 4, 2016

As we're all well aware, the environment has been a hot topic of discussion as of late. From reducing pollution to the emergence of hybrid vehicles, the act of going green is becoming more important by the day. The fact of the matter is your choice of transportation can have a significant impact on the environment. And there is a simple solution to help you make green transportation decisions: choose motor coaches.

Did you know that motor coaches are a greener way to travel than hybrid cars? In recent years, many car companies have stepped up their efforts in becoming more environmentally friendly. Hybrid cars are going a long way in reducing the carbon footprint of motorized vehicles. However, coach buses are 475% more efficient than hybrid vehicles based on the amount of fuel used per passenger. That number in itself is astounding. On top of that, according to busrates.com, a single car emits roughly 400 pounds of carbon dioxide during a 4-hour trip, while a motor coach only emits 150 pounds.

When you think about the number of cars that are on the road at any given time, the amount of carbon dioxide adds up extremely quickly. For a visual representation, consider the image above which illustrates what city roads would like like without cars. Not only does motor coach transportation considerably cut down on traffic congestion, but it also drastically reduces the amount of carbon dioxide that is released into the atmosphere. Remember those numbers we mentioned earlier regarding the amount of carbon dioxide emitted per single car? A single motor coach can take as many as 56 cars off the road, which would make a world of difference.

Not only do motor coaches beat out cars in terms of environmental friendliness, but coaches are actually the most energy efficient of any method of motorized transportation, period. And it's not even close. Motor coaches get approximately 208 miles per gallon of fuel per passenger. If you're thinking that's an incredibly high number, it's because it is. As a matter of fact, the next greenest mode of transportation are trains, which get roughly 4 times fewer miles per gallon per passenger than a motor coach. Consider these numbers the next time you're making travel plans.

Doing what's best for the earth and making green choices are becoming increasingly important. When considering your travel options, be sure to keep the environment top of mind. The fact remains that motor coaches are the most eco-friendly mode of mass transit by a long shot. Our transportation choices can go a long way in reducing our carbon footprint. We only get one planet, so we better take care of it.
